Since 2002 we've chosen to produce food organically, without the use of synthetic pesticides or
fertilizers. Organic farming keeps these chemicals out of our air, our water, our ecosystems, and the
food we eat! Products are available at the Clintonville Farmers' Market during July and August,
at Jorgensen Farm Market the first Sunday of every month starting May 1, 2011 (hours are
from 1pm to 4pm), and
coming soon at the new
Fresh Market on
Henderson Road.
ORGANIC FLOWERS:
Jorgensen Farms is known
for it's "fields of gold"
sunflowers! They are
grown for sale at the
Clintonville Farmers Market,
local restaurant tables,
florists and neighborhood
markets, and events at the
farm. Other cut flowers
include zinnias, cosmos,
and many varieties for
special order.
ORGANIC HERBS and HERBAL PRODUCTS: Culinary herbs grown on the farm include basil
(many varieties), chervil, chives, dill, fennel, feverfew, lavender, lemon balm, lemon verbena,
lovage, marjoram, mint (many varieties), oregano, parsley, rosemary, sage, savory, sorrel,
tarragon, and thyme. Organic herbal teas, tinctures and salves are made using fresh and dried
herbs grown on the farm.
HONEY: Jorgensen Farms honey is made primarily from alfalfa, clover, buckwheat,
blackberries, raspberries, apple and peach blossoms, herbs and wildflowers. Honey differs in
color and taste depending on the blossoms the honeybees visit to collect pollen and nectar. All
Jorgensen Farms honey is raw, unpasteurized honey, containing some pollen. Local raw honey
is sought after by allergy sufferers as the pollen is thought to lessen the sensitivity to hay fever.
Comb Honey: The honey is sold still in the wax comb. After removal from the hive, the
honeycomb is placed in a 4 inch square clear plastic container.
Chunk Honey: Honey packed in glass containers consisting of one or more sections of comb
honey surrounded by extracted liquid honey.
Extracted Honey: Liquid honey that has been extracted from the honeycomb.
Herbal Infused Honey: Extracted Honey that has been infused with fresh organic herbs for
about a month. When the herbs are strained from the honey, the honey retains the flavor and
medicinal properties of the herb.
Honey is composed primarily of carbohydrates and water, and also contains small amounts of a
wide array of vitamins and minerals. Honey contains a variety of flavenoids and phenolic acids
which act as antioxidants, scavenging and eliminating free radicals. Generally, darker honey has
higher antioxidant content and stronger flavor than lighter honey.
ORGANIC PASTURED LAMB: The lamb raised on Jorgensen Farms is organic pasture raised
Romney lamb. We use no hormones or antibiotics, nor do we feed them any animal by-products.
Our organic pasture is grown without chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides. A mix of
warm weather and cool weather grasses and clover ensure that they have plenty to eat year
round; rotational grazing ensures regular, fresh, clean feed. We believe this creates a healthier
animal and better tasting lamb. Humane treatment and low-stress handling ensure a premium
product. Lamb is available whole, lamb sausage, or custom cut.
ORGANIC POULTRY and EGGS: Limited quantities of organic chicken, eggs, duck, and
turkey are available at our monthly First Sunday Jorgensen Farm Market.
ORGANIC SOIL AMENDMENTS and GARDENING PRODUCTS: We offer educational
classes and the products needed to garden using the same organic methods we use. If you have
a special interest please contact us.
WOOL PRODUCTS: Products available for sale are wool pelts, wool fleece, batting, roving,
yarn, socks and bedding products. Please contact us if you are interested in wool products.
